Directions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9 x 13-inch baking dish to ensure the cake comes out easily after baking.
- Prepare the yellow cake mix according to the package instructions. This usually involves mixing in eggs, water, and oil until you have a smooth batter.
- In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with the powdered sugar until the mixture is smooth and creamy. This will be your delightful filling.
- In the greased baking dish, pour half of the cake batter. Spread it evenly across the bottom to create a solid base for our tremendous dessert.
- Spoon the cream cheese mixture over the batter. Take care to spread it out gently. Next, layer the sliced strawberries over the cream cheese. If desired, sprinkle chopped nuts and shredded coconut for added texture and flavor.
- Pour the remaining cake batter over the top, covering the filling completely. Don’t worry if it looks a bit uneven; it will level out while baking.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Keep an eye on it; every oven is different, so make sure to check for doneness.
- Allow to cool before serving. This waiting period will help the flavors to set and make it easier to slice.
