Ms. Johnnie Ruth’s Slow Cooker Barbecue Beef Ribs

Directions

  1. Begin by seasoning the beef ribs generously with salt and black pepper. Ensure you cover each rib thoroughly to create a tremendous baseline of flavor. Sprinkle the garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika evenly over the beef, massaging the spices into the meat with your fingers. This step is crucial for making the flavors pop.

  2. Once seasoned, place the ribs into your slow cooker. Arrange them in a way that allows them to fit snugly but not overcrowded. The ribs should lay down comfortably, allowing the heat and flavors to circulate around them evenly.

  3. Set the slow cooker to low and let the ribs cook for about 6-8 hours. This low and slow technique is what gives the ribs their tremendous tenderness. As the ribs slowly cook, the meat will break down beautifully, becoming buttery soft and nearly falling off the bone.

  4. After the cooking time, check that the ribs are ready by ensuring they are fork-tender. Carefully remove them from the slow cooker and place them on a serving platter. Serve with a generous drizzle of your favorite barbecue sauce, which can be either store-bought or homemade, for that perfect finishing touch.
