Prepare the Butter and Peanut Butter
To begin your frost, soften both the unsalted butter and the creamy peanut butter by leaving them at room temperature for about 30 minutes. This step is essential as it allows for a tremendous mixture that’s smooth and easy to whip! -
Mix Together
In a medium mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the softened butter and peanut butter together on medium speed. Continue mixing until the blend becomes smooth and fluffy; this should take about 2 to 3 minutes. -
Incorporate the Sugar
Gradually add the sifted powdered sugar to your bowl. Start mixing on low speed to prevent a sugar cloud, and then increase to medium speed. Keep mixing until the sugar is fully incorporated, and the mixture is light and fluffy. The frosting should hold its shape but remain soft enough for easy spreading. -
Add Flavor and Texture
If desired, stir in the vanilla extract and/or heavy cream or milk. This optional step will add flavor depth and can also adjust the frosting’s texture to your preference. Mix until it becomes light and airy, making it even more delightful. -
Frost Your Treats
Once your frosting is ready, you can use it immediately to frost cooled baked goods, such as cakes or cupcakes. For a more decorative touch, transfer the frosting into a piping bag and create beautiful designs atop your favorite desserts.
