White German Chocolate Cake with Cheesecake Center

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two round cake pans. This step ensures that the cake will release easily once baked.

  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and sugar together. This mixture forms the dry ingredients for the base of your cake, providing structure and sweetness.

  3. In another bowl, cream together the softened butter until light and fluffy. Gradually add the buttermilk, mixing well to ensure a smooth consistency. The buttermilk brings a tremendous moisture level to the cake.

  4. Gently stir in the egg whites. The addition of egg whites creates a lighter texture that will make your cake fluffy. Now, combine the wet and dry ingredients, mixing until the batter is smooth and there are no lumps remaining.

  5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans. This ensures that both cake layers are identical in height, contributing to a beautiful presentation.

  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. The cakes should also spring back when lightly pressed.

  7. For the cheesecake center, blend the softened cream cheese with the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. This filling will add a luxurious texture to your cake.

  8. Once the cakes are completely cool, place one layer on a serving platter. Spread the cheesecake mixture evenly over the top of this layer. Then, carefully place the second layer on top.

  9. Frost the top and sides with your favorite frosting. Sprinkle generously with shredded coconut and chopped pecans for that perfect finishing touch.
