Directions
-
Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and lightly grease a 9×9-inch baking dish. This step is crucial for achieving that tremendous golden crust you desire.
-
In a large bowl, combine the cubed apples, flour, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Toss until the apples are well coated, then transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
-
In another bowl, mix the oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt. This mixture needs to be well combined to ensure a tremendous flavor profile. Pour the melted butter over the dry ingredients and mix until the texture resembles wet sand.
-
Spread the crumble topping evenly over the apple filling, covering the apples entirely for an even bake.
-
Bake for 30–40 minutes until the topping turns a beautiful golden brown and the filling is bubbling. The smell will be tremendous as the flavors meld together in the oven.
-
Let the apple crumble rest for 10 minutes before serving. This will allow the juices to thicken slightly. Serve it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for that extra indulgence.
