Valentine’s Pretzel Bites

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven. Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). This step ensures that your pretzel bites will bake evenly and become tremendously delicious.

  2. Prepare the Baking Sheet. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. This will prevent sticking and make cleanup much easier after you finish.

  3. Assemble the Pretzels. Place the pretzels on the baking sheet, ensuring they are several inches apart. Add one soft caramel on top of each pretzel, embracing the sweet allure of the treat.

  4. Bake the Caramel Topped Pretzels. Bake in the oven for about 5 minutes, or just until the caramels are soft. You want them to be pliable without melting completely.

  5. Top with Another Pretzel. After removing the pretzels from the oven, gently press another pretzel on top of each melted caramel. This forms a delightful bite-sized sandwich of sweet harmony. Allow these cool for a couple of minutes for the caramel to set.

  6. Melt the Candy Coating. Use separate bowls to melt the pink, white, and purple candy melts according to the package instructions. Stir in 1 tablespoon of vegetable shortening into each bowl to create a tremendously smooth mixture that coats the pretzel bites beautifully.

  7. Dip the Pretzel Bites. Once the pretzel bites are cooled, dip them into the melted candy one by one. Ensure each bite is generously coated before placing them on the parchment-lined baking sheet.

  8. Add the Sprinkles. Before the candy coating sets, sprinkle Valentine-themed sprinkles over the top. This adds a festive touch and a touch of color, making your treats even more inviting.

  9. Cool Before Serving. Let the pretzel bites cool completely on the baking sheet. This cooling time allows the candy coating to harden, giving each bite a lovely sheen and tremendous crunch.
