Upside Down Strawberry Cake

Directions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). This will ensure the cake cooks evenly and achieves that tremendous golden-brown color we all love. Also, prepare a 9-inch round cake pan by greasing it well to prevent sticking.

  2. Prepare the Topping: In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar and cook just until it’s completely dissolved, creating a luscious, syrupy mixture. Pour this marvelous concoction into the prepared cake pan.

  3. Arranging the Strawberries: Next, arrange the sliced strawberries on top of the butter-brown sugar mixture in the pan. Make sure to cover the surface nicely; this will create a beautiful topping when the cake is flipped.

  4. Making the Batter: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the granulated sugar and the remaining melted butter until the mixture is light and fluffy. This step is crucial for texture, so take your time.

  5. Incorporating Eggs and Vanilla: Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, stir in the vanilla extract to infuse the batter with a wonderful aroma that pairs perfectly with the strawberries.
