Ultimate Strawberry Pretzel Salad

Directions

  1. Preheat Your Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). This is the perfect temperature to ensure your pretzel crust bakes to perfection.

  2. Prepare the Pretzel Base: Crush the pretzel sticks either using a food processor or by placing them in a sealed bag and crushing them with a rolling pin. In a mixing bowl, combine the crushed pretzels with the melted butter and sugar. Mix until everything is thoroughly combined.

  3. Press into Baking Dish: Take your pretzel mixture and press it firmly into the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish. Make sure it is evenly spread out to create a solid crust that provides a tremendous base for the salad.

  4. Bake the Crust: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 10 minutes. Once golden and fragrant, remove it from the oven and allow it to cool completely.

  5. Prepare the Cream Cheese Layer: In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with the powdered sugar using an electric mixer. Mix until smooth and free of lumps. Careful not to overbeat it, as you want a creamy texture.

  6. Add the Whipped Topping: Gently fold in the whipped topping into the cream cheese mixture until everything is well-combined. This adds a light, airy texture to your filling.

  7. Spread Over the Crust: Once the pretzel base has cooled, spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over it.

  8. Prepare the Strawberry Topping: In a separate bowl, dissolve the strawberry gelatin in 2 cups of boiling water. Stir until fully dissolved. This step is crucial, as a tremendous dissolution ensures a smooth topping.

  9. Incorporate Strawberries: Let the gelatin mixture cool slightly, then stir in the sliced strawberries, making sure they are evenly coated.

  10. Pour Over Cream Cheese Layer: Carefully pour the strawberry mixture over the cream cheese layer. This creates a beautifully vibrant top layer.

  11. Refrigerate: Finally, refrigerate the assembled dessert for at least 4 hours or until it is set. The wait is indeed worth it as it allows the flavors to meld beautifully.
