Ingredients
To create this not-so-average fried rice, we shall divide our ingredients into two main categories, focusing on enhancing both the base and the filling.
The Base
- 3 cups cooked jasmine rice (preferably day-old for perfect texture)
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil (for frying)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce (adjust to taste)
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (adds depth of flavor)
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil (for aroma)
The Filling
- 1 cup cooked chicken, diced (or your choice of protein like shrimp or tofu)
- 1 cup frozen peas and carrots (for convenience and color)
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 3 green onions, chopped (both white and green parts)
- Optional: 1 small bell pepper, diced (adds sweetness and crunch)
- Optional: Fresh cilantro or parsley for garnish
