Strawberry Honeybun Cake with Strawberry Cream Icing

Directions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking dish. This ensures that your cake will not stick to the pan, making it easier to serve.

  2. Mix Ingredients for the Cake: In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and sour cream. Using a whisk or electric mixer, mix until the batter is smooth and well combined. The mixture should have a NICE and fluffy texture at this stage.

  3. Prepare the Strawberry Filling: In another bowl, mix together the chopped strawberries, sugar, and vanilla extract. This step allows the strawberries to release their juices and blend with the sugar for a tremendous flavor boost.

  4. Assemble the Cake: Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly. Next, sprinkle the strawberry mixture on top of the batter. Finally, add the remaining cake batter on top, gently spreading it to cover the strawberries.
