Strawberry Cheesecake Turnovers

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). This creates the perfect environment for the turnovers to achieve that lovely golden color and flaky texture.

  2. In a bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, chopped strawberries, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth. This filling is crucial as it adds that tremendous creaminess to each bite.

  3. Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface and cut them into squares that are about 4 to 5 inches wide. The thicker the pastry, the better the final turnover will be.

  4. Place a spoonful of the cheesecake filling in the center of each square. You want just the right amount to create a balance between the creamy filling and the crispy pastry.

  5. Fold the pastry over to form triangles, ensuring the filling stays inside. Seal the edges with a fork, crimping the pastry to create a beautiful ridge. This step is not just aesthetic; it keeps the tremendous filling secure during baking.

  6. Brush the tops of the turnovers with egg wash. This will give the pastries that gorgeous, shiny finish once baked.

  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until they turn golden brown and puffy. Keep an eye on them, as ovens may vary, and you want them to achieve that perfect crispy texture.

  8. Let the turnovers cool slightly for a few minutes. Dust them with powdered sugar before serving to give them a charming touch.
