Starbucks Gingerbread Loaf with Cream Cheese Frosting

Directions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly spray a 9×5-inch loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray to ensure your loaf comes out effortlessly.

  2. Cream the Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy. This process is vital as it helps to incorporate air into the batter, ensuring a tremendous rise.

  3. Add Wet Ingredients: Next, add the vanilla extract and the egg to the creamed mixture, mixing until well incorporated. Stir in the apple butter, blending until the mixture is smooth and delightful.

  4. Prepare the Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, salt, ground ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg. These spices provide the tremendous flavor that sets this loaf apart.

  5. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Be careful not to overmix, as this can affect the texture of the loaf.

  6. Pour and Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake in the oven for approximately 55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. The smell wafting from the oven will be tremendous!

  7. Cool the Loaf: Once baked, let the loaf cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, carefully transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

  8. Prepare the Cream Cheese Frosting: For the frosting, in a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and vanilla extract until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar until you reach your desired consistency. The frosting should be creamy and spreadable.

  9. Frost and Garnish: Once the loaf is completely cool, generously frost the top with the cream cheese frosting and sprinkle with chopped walnuts if desired.

  10. Slice and Serve: Slice the loaf into thick, inviting pieces and serve. Enjoy with a warm beverage on a cold day for the ultimate comfort experience.
