Directions
-
Start by heating olive oil over medium heat in a skillet. Once hot, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté them until they become translucent and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes. The aroma is tremendous at this stage, setting the tone for your dish.
-
Next, introduce the ground beef to your skillet. Cook it until it’s browned all over, utilizing a wooden spoon to break it apart. Once browned, drain any excess fat to ensure your final dish isn’t greasy.
-
Now, stir in the diced tomatoes along with Italian seasoning. A pinch of salt and pepper will elevate the flavors. Let this mixture simmer for about 10 minutes on low heat. This step allows the flavors to bond, creating a tremendous base for the rest of your dish.
-
While that’s simmering, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). This is the optimum temperature for achieving that perfect melty cheese finish.
-
After the simmering is done, carefully transfer the beef mixture to a baking dish. Spread it out evenly and sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese generously on top. Make sure to cover it entirely, as this will create a lovely, creamy crust.
-
Finally, pop it in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes. Keep a close eye on it until the cheese is melted and bubbly. It will look tremendously inviting as it emerges from the oven.
-
Serve hot and enjoy the flavor explosion! The combination of savory beef with creamy mozzarella will leave everyone at the table satisfied and coming back for more.
