Sausage & Cream Cheese Hash Brown Breakfast Casserole

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). This step is crucial as it ensures even baking right from the start, delivering that perfect golden top we all love.

  2. In a skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until browned. This usually takes about 5–7 minutes. Once it’s nicely browned, drain the excess fat to avoid a greasy casserole.

  3. In a large bowl, mix together the hash browns, cream cheese, cheddar cheese, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and eggs. It’s important to get the cream cheese nice and soft so it blends easily.

  4. Add the cooked sausage to the mixture and stir until well combined. This is where the tremendous flavor really comes through, with the sausage enriching every ingredient.

  5. Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Make sure the mixture is spread evenly for a consistent bake throughout.

  6. Bake for 45–50 minutes or until the center is set and the top is golden. You’ll want to keep an eye on it towards the end; the smell will be tremendous!

  7. Garnish with chopped green onions if desired. This adds a lovely pop of color and flavor.

  8. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. This step is key to allowing the casserole to set, making it easier to slice and serve.
