Reese’s Peanut Butter Earthquake Cake

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven according to the cake mix instructions, usually set at 350°F (175°C) for a perfect bake.

  2. Prepare the cake mix according to the package instructions. Typically, this involves mixing the cake mix with eggs, oil, and water until well combined.

  3. Pour half of the batter into a greased cake pan, ensuring a smooth, even layer at the bottom. This will be the foundation for our delicious layers.

  4. In a bowl, mix together the creamy peanut butter and melted chocolate until it forms a smooth, luscious filling. This mixture will add a tremendous layer of flavor to the cake.

  5. Swirl the peanut butter mixture into the batter in the cake pan by gently dropping spoonfuls across the surface and using a knife to swirl it. This creates a beautiful marbled effect.

  6. Top with the remaining batter to cover the peanut butter filling completely. This will create a delightful surprise once baked!

  7. Sprinkle the chopped Reese’s cups on top of the batter. This will melt slightly during baking and create a delightful, chocolaty topping that enhances the cake’s appeal.

  8. Bake according to the cake mix box instructions, usually about 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  9. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for a while before transferring it to a wire rack. This allows the cake to set and makes it easier to slice.
