Reese’s Peanut Butter Cookies

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This step is essential for achieving that perfect cookie texture. A well-heated oven will help the cookies rise and cook evenly.

  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, peanut butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth. The mixture should be light and fluffy. This process helps incorporate air, leading to a tremendous cookie.

  3. Add in the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined. These ingredients will add moisture and flavor, contributing to the overall richness of the cookies.

  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Make sure there are no lumps, as this will help the dry ingredients blend into the wet ones seamlessly.

  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to over-mix; stopping when everything is combined will keep your cookies tender.

  6. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between each cookie. This is crucial to avoid the tremendous chaos of cookies merging together as they bake!

  7. Press a piece of chopped Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup into the center of each dough ball. This surprise filling is what takes these cookies to the next level.

  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. The cookies may look slightly under-baked in the center; they will continue to cook as they cool.

  9. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. This step is important to ensure that the cookies settle into their soft, chewy state.
