Directions
- Begin by heating a skillet over medium heat. Ensure the skillet is hot enough to provide a tremendous sear on the tortilla when it touches the surface.
- Place a tortilla in the skillet, allowing it to warm slightly. Sprinkle a generous amount of shredded cheese over half of the tortilla, ensuring it is evenly spread for optimal melting.
- If you desire to add any optional ingredients – like cooked chicken, beef, or vegetables – layer them on top of the cheese. This step is crucial as it adds tremendous flavor and texture to your quesadilla.
- Carefully fold the tortilla over to create a half-moon shape. Press down gently to help seal in the cheese and filling as it starts to melt.
- Cook the quesadilla for 2-3 minutes. You want the bottom to turn golden brown and the cheese inside to be melting into a gooey delight.
- Using a spatula, flip the quesadilla and cook the other side for an additional 2-3 minutes until it becomes golden and crisp.
- Once cooked, remove the quesadilla from the skillet and place it on a cutting board. With a sharp knife, cut it into wedges or slices for easy handling.
- Serve your quesadillas warm, alongside sour cream and salsa for dipping. The tangy dip pairs tremendously with the cheesy goodness of your creation.
