Directions
-
Preheat the Oven
Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). This step is crucial for achieving that perfect texture we desire in our cake. -
Create the Base
In a large mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, melted butter, and one large egg. Stir until the mixture is well combined. The result should form a thick, sticky batter. -
Spread the Base
Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray. Pour the cake batter into the dish, spreading it evenly across the bottom. This base layer will be the foundation of your tremendous cake. -
Prepare the Filling
In another bowl, add the softened cream cheese. Beat it until it is smooth and fluffy. Then, add in the two large eggs, powdered sugar, pistachio pudding mix, and vanilla extract. Mix well until everything is thoroughly combined and the mixture is creamy. -
Layer the Filling
Pour the cream cheese mixture over the cake layer you’ve already spread in the baking dish. Make sure to spread it evenly for a uniform texture throughout. -
Bake the Cake
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 40 to 50 minutes. The center should be set, and when you insert a toothpick, it should come out clean. The edges may appear slightly golden, while the center remains soft and sticky, which is the desired outcome. -
Cool Before Serving
Once done, remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool in the baking dish for at least 30 minutes. This will give the filling a chance to set up, making it easier to cut into squares.
