Philly Cheesesteak Skillet

Directions

  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. This step is crucial as it sets the stage for cooking the meat to a tender perfection.

  2. Add the sliced steak to the skillet and cook until browned. The sizzling sound should be music to your ears at this point, as the meat takes on that beautiful caramelized color that adds a layer of flavor.

  3. Once the steak is beautifully browned, add the bell pepper, onion, and mushrooms to the skillet. Sauté until the vegetables are tender, which usually takes about 4-5 minutes. This step not only adds color but also infuses the dish with a tremendous depth of flavor.

  4. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. These simple seasonings elevate the dish, bringing out the natural flavors of the ingredients.

  5. Sprinkle the provolone cheese over the mixture and cover the skillet to allow the cheese to melt. This should take only a couple of minutes. The result will be a gooey layer of cheese that binds everything together with deliciousness.

  6. Serve hot, either on its own or with toasted rolls on the side. Each spoonful is a medley of textures: soft, juicy beef, crunchy vegetables, and a creamy, cheesy finish.
