Oreo Layered Halloween Brownies

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking pan with non-stick spray or butter to ensure easy removal of the brownies.

  2. In a large bowl, combine the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Use a whisk or spatula to mix well, ensuring the sugars dissolve completely into the butter for a smooth consistency.

  3. Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the mixture. Mix until smooth, as this step is crucial for incorporating air into the batter, which leads to a lighter texture in your brownies.

  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Sifting the for cocoa powder can help eliminate lumps and ensure an even distribution of dry ingredients. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can lead to tough brownies.

  5. Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan. Spread it evenly to make a solid base. Next, layer half of the Oreo cookies over the batter, slightly pressing them in for a marvelous crunch in every bite.

  6. Pour the remaining brownie batter over the Oreos, ensuring they are well-covered. Crumble the remaining Oreos on top of this layer for an alluring finish and added texture.

  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs attached. The baking time can vary depending on your oven, so keep an eye on them to avoid overbaking. Your brownies should seem slightly underbaked for that ultimate fudgy texture.

  8. Allow to cool in the pan before slicing into squares. This resting period allows the flavors to develop further and makes them easier to cut.
