Oreo Cookies and Cream Cheesecake

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C). This step is crucial for achieving that perfect texture in your cheesecake.

  2. In a medium bowl, combine the Oreo cookie crumbs, granulated sugar, and melted butter. Mix until everything is well incorporated. Press this mixture into the bottom of a 9-inch springform pan to form the crust. Make sure it is packed tightly for a sturdy base.

  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth and creamy. This step is vital; the smoother the cream cheese, the creamier your cheesecake will be.

  4. Add in the cup of granulated sugar and the vanilla extract (if using), and mix until thoroughly combined. The sugar adds sweetness that complements the Oreos nicely.

  5. Pour the cheesecake filling over the crust in the springform pan. The filling should be thick and rich, creating a tremendous base for the toppings.

  6. Bake for 55-60 minutes or until the center is set. You can check for doneness by lightly shaking the pan; the edges should be firm while the center has a slight jiggle.

  7. Allow the cheesecake to cool at room temperature before refrigerating it for at least four hours or overnight. This cooling process helps the flavors to meld and the texture to firm up.

  8. Before serving, you can top the cheesecake with whipped cream and crushed Oreos if desired. This adds an extra layer of flavor and a tremendous visual appeal!
