Orange Creamsicle Cake


Ingredients

The Base

  • 3 cups (375 g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups (400 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (226 g) softened butter
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup (240 ml) milk
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) fresh orange juice
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons orange zest
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Optional: 1/2–1 teaspoon orange extract
  • Optional: A few drops of orange food coloring

The Frosting

  • 1.5 cups (340 g) softened butter
  • 5 cups (600 g) powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup (80 ml) cream or milk
  • 3 tablespoons orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Optional: 1 drop orange food coloring
