One Pot Smoked Sausage Pasta

Directions

  1. In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. The oil should shimmer, indicating it’s ready for cooking. This is the base of our tremendous flavor.

  2. Add the sliced smoked sausage to the pot, allowing it to cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. This initial step develops a lovely savory foundation that will shine throughout the dish.

  3. Next, add the diced onion and minced garlic to the sausage. Sauté until softened, which should take about 3-4 minutes. The aroma at this stage will be tremendous, filling your kitchen with warmth.

  4. After the onion and garlic have softened, stir in the canned diced tomatoes along with their juice and pour in the chicken broth. This blend will create a sauce that binds all the ingredients together beautifully.

  5. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally. This process allows the flavors to meld and the sausage to impart its smokiness into the broth.

  6. Once boiling, add the pasta to the pot. Reduce heat to a gentle simmer and cover, allowing the pasta to cook until al dente, about 10-12 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking. The pasta will absorb the delicious flavors in this tremendous one-pot meal.

  7. As the pasta nears completion, stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until it melts completely, creating a creamy, dreamy consistency.

  8. Season the dish with salt and pepper to taste, ensuring the flavors are perfectly balanced.

  9. Finally, garnish with fresh parsley before serving. This adds a delightful pop of color and a fresh flavor.
