Magic Cookie Bars

Directions

  1. Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). This step is crucial for achieving perfectly baked bars, ensuring that the bottom crust has time to set while the layers above come together beautifully.

  2. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat or in the microwave in short bursts until it is fully liquefied. Pour the melted butter into a 9×13 inch baking dish. This will serve as the base for your tremendous treat.

  3. Once the butter is in the baking dish, sprinkle the graham cracker crumbs evenly over the melted butter. Using the back of a spoon or your hands, press the crumbs down gently to form a crust. This step is important as it provides the foundation for the delicious layers that will follow.

  4. Layer the sweetened coconut, followed by the semi-sweet chocolate chips and the chopped nuts on top of the crust. Each of these elements adds a tremendous variety of taste and texture that makes these bars so appealing.

  5. Once your layers are in place, pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the top. This will act as a binding agent and ensure each bite is rich and decadent. The milk seeps down, marrying all the flavors together.

  6. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 25-30 minutes. You’re looking for the edges to turn a lovely golden brown, signifying that the bars are fully cooked and ready to be enjoyed.

  7. After baking, allow the bars to cool in the pan for approximately 10-15 minutes before cutting them into squares. This cooling time allows the layers to set and makes it easier to slice.
