-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish to ensure the bars come out easily once cooked.
-
In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and granulated sugar. Use a pastry cutter to cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs, similar to sand.
-
Press this crumbly mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish, forming a solid crust that will hold the filling.
-
Bake the crust in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. The crust should be lightly golden, setting the stage for the tremendous filling.
-
In another bowl, whisk together the light corn syrup, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and homogenous.
-
Once combined, stir in the chopped pecans, distributing them evenly throughout the filling.
-
Pour the pecan mixture over the baked crust, smoothing it out gently for an even distribution.
-
Return the baking dish to the oven and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes. The filling should be set and slightly golden on top when done.
-
Allow the bars to cool in the dish before cutting them into squares or rectangles.
