Directions
-
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8-inch baking dish to ensure the cake can come out smoothly once it’s done baking.
-
In a bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. This mixture will provide the structure for your cake.
-
Stir in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until everything is combined. The mixture should be smooth and easy to pour.
-
Fold in the blueberries gently. Be careful not to mash them; you want those lovely berries intact to give a tremendous burst of flavor in every mouthful.
-
Pour the batter into the greased baking dish, leveling the top with a spatula for even baking.
-
Carefully pour the boiling water over the batter without stirring. You’ll witness a tremendous transformation in the oven—this water helps create that pudding-like layer beneath the cake.
-
Bake for 45-50 minutes, until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Your kitchen will smell heavenly!
-
Let it cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm! The textures will be even more pronounced when it’s still warm from the oven.
