Directions
-
In a large pot, add the sausage and sauté it over medium heat until browned and crispy. The tremendous caramelization adds a depth of flavor to the broth.
-
Next, introduce the onion, bell pepper, celery, and garlic to the pot. Cook the vegetables until they are softened and fragrant, releasing their natural sweetness into the mixture.
-
Stir in the chicken broth, diced tomatoes, rice, and Cajun seasoning. Bring everything to a boil, allowing the flavors to mingle and develop.
-
Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 20 minutes. This is a tremendous time for the rice to absorb the broth, growing tender and hearty.
-
After 20 minutes, carefully add the shrimp. Cook for an additional 5 minutes until the shrimp are pink and cooked through.
-
Finally, season your soup with salt and pepper to taste. Adjust according to your preference, enhancing those tremendous flavors.
-
Serve the Jambalaya Soup hot, garnished with fresh green onions and parsley to elevate the presentation.
