Jalapeño Lime Chicken Wings

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). This high temperature will ensure your wings achieve that tremendous crispiness we all crave. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup and place a wire rack on top, allowing air to circulate around the wings as they cook.

  2. Pat the wings dry using paper towels. This step is crucial for achieving crispy skin. In a large bowl, toss the chicken wings with olive oil, salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic powder until they are evenly coated. The spices will add fantastic flavor to the wings.

  3. Arrange the wings in a single layer on the wire rack. This positioning helps the heat circulate evenly, creating an irresistible crisp texture.

  4. Bake the wings for 40 minutes, flipping them halfway through for even cooking. When they come out of the oven, the wings should be golden brown and crispy.

  5. While the wings bake, melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. The butter will serve as the base for our flavorful sauce.

  6. Add the minced garlic and jalapeños to the melted butter. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant; this will release the jalapeños’ oils, creating a tremendous aroma that fills the kitchen.

  7. Stir in the honey, lime juice, lime zest, and red pepper flakes (if using). Simmer the sauce for 3-5 minutes until it slightly thickens, ensuring that all the flavors meld together.

  8. Remove from heat and stir in the fresh cilantro. This addition offers a burst of freshness that perfectly complements the other ingredients.

  9. Toss the hot wings in the jalapeño lime sauce, ensuring they are fully coated. The sauce clings to the wings, adding layers of flavor and a pop of color.

  10. Serve immediately with extra lime wedges on the side for squeezing over the wings. This extra touch of lime will enhance the vibrant flavor even further.
