-
Begin your journey by mixing the warm milk, honey, and yeast in a large bowl. Allow it to sit for about 5 minutes until you see it froth. This is a vital step, as the yeast needs to wake up and become tremendously active.
-
While waiting, in another bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and salt. This combination creates the perfect base for our bread, ensuring a tremendous rise.
-
Now, add the melted butter and the egg to the frothy yeast mixture. Stir gently and then gradually incorporate the dry ingredients until a dough forms.
-
Once your dough comes together, it’s time to knead it. Transfer it to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until the dough feels smooth and elastic. This step is crucial; it develops the gluten, giving your bread its wonderful texture.
-
After kneading, place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for 1-2 hours or until it has doubled in size. This rising time allows the dough to develop a tremendous flavor.
-
Once risen, punch down the dough gently to release any air. Shape it into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.
-
Cover the loaf pan and let it rise again for about 30-45 minutes. This second rising will further enhance the bread’s texture, making it tender and light.
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) while the loaf rises. Bake the bread for 30-35 minutes, or until it turns a golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped. The tremendous scent filling your kitchen will make it hard to resist.
-
Finally, allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. This patience will be rewarded with perfectly soft slices.
