Hot Fudge Ice Cream Cake

Directions

  1. Preheat Your Oven: Start by preheating your oven according to the instructions on the cake mix box. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans to ensure your cake comes out smoothly.

  2. Mix the Batter: In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until the batter is smooth and well combined.

  3. Pour into Pans: Divide the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans, ensuring that they are filled to about the same level for even baking.

  4. Bake the Cakes: Bake according to the package instructions, usually around 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool completely in the pans.

  5. Build Your Layers: Once the cakes have cooled, place one cake layer on a serving plate. Generously spread a layer of hot fudge sauce over the top, and then add a layer of vanilla ice cream. The combination here is tremendous, as the warm fudge begins to slightly melt the ice cream.

  6. Add the Second Layer: Place the second cake layer on top of the ice cream. Repeat the process with another layer of hot fudge sauce and another layer of ice cream.

  7. Finish with Whipped Cream: Top the cake with a generous dollop of whipped cream. For an added touch of elegance, sprinkle chocolate shavings or colorful sprinkles on top.
