Heavenly Chocolate Peanut Butter Ooey Gooey Cake

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Greasing the pan ensures that nothing sticks, allowing for a clean release of the cake later on.

  2. Prepare the cake mix according to the package instructions. Substitute melted butter for vegetable oil. This simple change adds tremendous richness and flavor to the cake base.

  3. Pour the cake batter into a greased 9×13-inch baking pan, spreading it evenly to create a smooth surface. This helps the cake to bake uniformly.

  4. Make the peanut butter filling by whisking together peanut butter, powdered sugar, and milk in a separate bowl. Keep whisking until the mixture is smooth and creamy—a tremendous treat that adds a wonderful texture to the cake.

  5. Spread the peanut butter mixture over the cake batter. Take your time to ensure an even distribution, as this is where the magic happens!

  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out with a few moist crumbs. The center should still be slightly gooey—this is the gooey goodness that will make your mouth water.

  7. Prepare the chocolate topping while the cake is baking. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine chocolate chips and heavy cream. Stir until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth. This velvety ganache will add a tremendous layer of flavor to your cake.

  8. Pour the melted chocolate sauce over the baked cake, spreading it evenly to cover the surface. The warm chocolate will melt slightly into the cake, creating a luscious topping.

  9. Let the cake cool slightly before serving. If you wish, sprinkle crushed peanuts on top for an extra crunch. Allow the flavors to come together for the best experience.
