German Chocolate Dump Cake

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). This initial step is crucial to ensure your cake bakes evenly.

  2. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Greasing the dish will make it easy to remove the cake after baking.

  3. Spread the crushed pineapple evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish. The pineapple adds a moist base to the cake, which complements the dry ingredients perfectly.

  4. Spoon dollops of German chocolate frosting over the pineapple. This layer introduces a rich and creamy texture that enhances the overall flavor profile of the cake.

  5. Sprinkle the yellow cake mix evenly over the frosting and pineapple layer. This layer will rise and create the cake’s structure during baking.

  6. Distribute the chopped pecans and shredded coconut evenly over the cake mix. The nuts and coconut will provide a nice crunch, contrasting beautifully with the moist layers below.

  7. Arrange the butter slices evenly over the top. This will melt during baking, helping to keep the cake moist and infusing it with buttery goodness.

  8. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cake is bubbly around the edges. The wonderful aroma that fills your kitchen during baking is simply tremendous!

  9. Allow to cool for at least 15 minutes before serving to let it set. This step is vital for achieving the perfect slicing consistency.
