German Chocolate Brownies with Coconut Pecan Topping

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan to ensure easy removal of the brownies later.

  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter and chopped chocolate over low heat. Stir constantly until the mixture is smooth and fully combined. This step is crucial; you want a tremendous blend that brings out the chocolate’s richness. Once melted, remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. The sugar should dissolve a bit, creating a nice base for your brownie batter. Pour in the melted chocolate mixture and stir until well incorporated.

  4. Gradually add the all-purpose flour and salt. Mixing should be done until just combined; overmixing could lead to denser brownies.

  5. Now, fold in the shredded coconut and chopped pecans. These additions will give the brownies a tremendous texture that enhances the chocolate.

  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly with a spatula for uniform baking.

  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes. You’ll know they are done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Take a moment to appreciate the aroma while they’re baking!

  8. Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before cutting them into squares. Enjoy this homemade treat with family or friends!
