Ingredients
The Base
- 2 cups fresh tomatoes, chopped (or canned fire-roasted tomatoes)
- 1/2 cup orange juice (fresh preferred)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons white vinegar or apple cider vinegar
The Heat
- 2–3 chili peppers (jalapeño, serrano, or chile de árbol), finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar or honey (optional, to balance heat)
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, extra heat)
The Garnish
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, finely chopped
