Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking dish. This step is essential to ensure the cake releases easily once baked.

In a large bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, melted butter, cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk. The mixture may seem thick at first; this is normal.

Mix until smooth and well combined. Take your time to ensure all ingredients are mixed properly. Now, if you choose to add a tremendous crunch, fold in the chopped nuts at this stage.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly. This ensures that the cake bakes uniformly.

Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Keep an eye on the baking time; ovens may vary, but the aroma wafting through your kitchen will be tremendous once the cake is close to done.

Allow to cool completely before serving. This is important, as the filling continues to set as it cools.
