Directions
-
Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch pan to ensure the cake doesn’t stick.
-
Make the Base: In a large bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, one egg, and the melted butter. Mix everything well until it forms a smooth mixture. It will have a slightly thicker consistency, which you will press into the prepared pan.
-
Assemble the Base: Once mixed, take the batter and evenly press it into the bottom of your greased pan. This forms a solid base for your cake, ready to hold the glorious filling.
-
Prepare the Filling: In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese until it’s nice and smooth. Take your time here to remove any lumps, as a smooth filling will give you a better texture.
-
Combine Ingredients: Add the three eggs and vanilla extract to the beaten cream cheese, mixing until fully combined.
-
Incorporate Sugar: Gradually add the powdered sugar to the cream cheese mixture, continuing to mix until the batter is smooth and creamy. This part is very important as it creates that gooey texture.
-
Mix in Pecans: Stir in the chopped pecans. Their crunch will beautifully contrast with the creamy filling, adding depth to every slice.
-
Pour and Bake: Pour this delicious cream cheese mixture over the cake base that you prepared earlier in the pan. Make sure it is spread evenly. Then, place it in the oven and bake for 40-45 minutes. You want to watch for the center to be set and the edges to attain a lovely golden hue.
-
Cool Down: Once out of the oven, allow the cake to cool fully before serving. This allows the filling to set properly and will make for easier slicing.
