Deep Hamburger Sausage & Pepperoni Pie

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). This sets the stage for your tremendous pie to bake evenly and achieve that perfect golden-brown crust.

  2. In a skillet, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat. Cook until browned, which should take about 6 to 8 minutes. Drain the excess fat to ensure your filling isn’t greasy.

  3. In a large bowl, combine the cooked meats with the shredded mozzarella cheese and pepperoni. Mix well to ensure a tremendous blend of flavors. Season with salt and pepper to your liking.

  4. Roll out the pie crust on a floured surface. This dough will form the base and the top of your pie, so make sure it’s nice and even. Place the crust into a pie dish, gently pressing it into the corners.

  5. Pour the meat and cheese mixture into the pie crust. Spread it evenly to ensure every slice is filled with that delicious filling.

  6. Cover with another layer of pie crust. Seal the edges by crimping them with your fingers or a fork. Make sure to cut slits on top of the crust. This allows steam to escape, helping your pie bake evenly.

  7. Brush the top with a beaten egg. This will give your pie a beautiful golden crust when baked.

  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes. Keep an eye on it; you want the crust to be golden brown and inviting.

  9. Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving. This waiting period allows the flavors to settle and the filling to firm up just a bit.
