Directions
-
Boil the Pasta: Begin your journey by bringing a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Cook the pasta until al dente, approximately 8-10 minutes depending on the type. Drain the pasta and be sure to save 1/2 cup of the pasta water for later use.
-
Sear the Shrimp: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. While the oil warms, season your shrimp generously with Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper. Add the shrimp to the hot skillet in a single layer, being careful not to overcrowd. Sear the shrimp for 1–2 minutes on each side until they turn pink and develop a slight char. Once cooked, remove the shrimp from the skillet and set them aside.
-
Build That Bold Cream Sauce: With the skillet still on medium heat, lower the temperature and add the butter. Allow it to melt, then sauté the minced garlic until fragrant, about 1 minute. Pour in the heavy cream, stirring continuously for 2–3 minutes, allowing the cream to warm and thicken slightly. Gradually mix in the grated Parmesan and chili flakes, stirring until the sauce is creamy and well combined.
-
Toss Pasta & Shrimp Together: Add the cooked pasta and seared shrimp back into the skillet with the cream sauce. Splash in the reserved pasta water, which will help the sauce cling to the noodles. Toss everything together until the pasta is well-coated. Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary.
-
Plate with Flair: Serve your creamy Cajun shrimp pasta in a striking way by swirling the pasta into a high, volcano-style stack on each plate. Top with extra shrimp, a sprinkle of fresh parsley, and a light squeeze of lemon to brighten the dish.
