Cream Cheese Cookies

Directions

  1. Begin by creaming the softened butter and room temperature cream cheese together in a large mixing bowl. Beat until the mixture is fluffy, ensuring a tremendous lightness that will make your cookies airy.

  2. Next, add in the granulated sugar, egg, and vanilla extract. Beat this mixture until it is smooth and well combined, allowing all the flavors to meld together beautifully.

  3. Gradually incorporate the baking powder and all-purpose flour into the mixture. Stir until just combined; take care not to overmix, as this can lead to dense cookies.

  4. Once your dough is ready, refrigerate it for about 1 hour. This step is crucial, as it allows the flavors to develop and the dough to firm up, making it easier to shape.

  5. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C), creating a warm environment that will ensure your cookies bake evenly and develop a lovely golden color.

  6. After the dough has chilled, roll it into 1–2 inch balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. This helps prevent sticking and makes clean-up a breeze.

  7. Gently flatten each ball with your hand, as this will help them spread slightly while baking. Bake in the preheated oven for 9–11 minutes, or until the bottoms are golden brown.

  8. Once baked, remove the cookies from the oven and allow them to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes. Afterward, transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely. For an added touch of sweetness, dust them with icing sugar before serving.
