Cowboy Casserole

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures an even cooking environment for our tremendous casserole.

  2. In a skillet, cook the bacon slices over medium heat until they’re crispy. Remove them from the skillet and crumble them into bite-sized pieces. Leave the bacon fat in the skillet to add flavor to the dish.

  3. In the same skillet, brown the ground beef until it’s fully cooked. Drain any excess fat to keep the casserole from becoming greasy.

  4. Stir in the cream of mushroom soup, corn, and half of the crumbled bacon, mixing well to combine all the flavors beautifully.

  5. Season your mixture with a pinch of salt and pepper. This simple seasoning makes a tremendous difference in flavor.

  6. Transfer the beef and soup mixture into a baking dish, spreading it out evenly across the bottom.

  7. Top the mixture with a layer of tater tots. Their crispy texture adds a delightful crunch that complements the creamy filling perfectly.

  8. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top of the tater tots. This will melt beautifully as the casserole bakes.

  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and the cheese has melted to a delectable gooeyness.

  10. Garnish the casserole with the remaining crumbled bacon just before serving to enhance its flavor and visual appeal.
