Chocolate Rice Krispies Treats

Directions

  1. Begin by melting the butter in a large pot over low heat. It’s important to use low heat to prevent the butter from burning, fostering a smooth base for your marshmallow mixture.

  2. Once the butter is melted, add the mini marshmallows to the pot. Stir continuously until they are completely melted and smooth. This step creates the marshmallow base that binds everything together, and the tremendous aroma will fill your kitchen.

  3. With the marshmallows fully melted, remove the pot from the heat. Now, it’s time to fold in the chocolate chips. Stir gently until the chocolate chips are melted and fully incorporated into the marshmallow mixture. The mixture should have a beautiful, glossy appearance.

  4. Next, you’ll want to add the Rice Krispies cereal to the pot. Gently fold the cereal into the mixture until it is well combined. Make sure every puffed rice is coated, ensuring each bite will be blissful.

  5. Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan with non-stick spray or butter. Press the mixture evenly into the pan, making sure to level it out for uniform squares. Use a piece of parchment paper or a greased spatula to press down firmly without sticking.
