Chocolate Covered Cherry Rice Krispies Treats

Directions

  1. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Stir in the mini marshmallows and cherry extract until completely melted. If you desire a bit of color, add the food coloring and stir until fully incorporated.

  2. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the Rice Krispies cereal and mix until every piece is well coated with the marshmallow mixture.

  3. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Use a spatula or your hands to press down firmly. Ensure the mixture is evenly spread and compacted.

  4. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval until completely smooth. Alternatively, you could melt them over a double boiler.

  5. Once melted, drizzle or spread the chocolate over the pressed Rice Krispies mixture, covering it generously.

  6. Allow the treats to cool at room temperature until the chocolate has set. Once firm, cut them into squares and prepare to enjoy these tremendous treats!
