Chocolate Caramel Cupcakes

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with paper liners. This initial step is tremendous, as it sets the stage for your baking adventure.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Stir well to ensure the dry ingredients are evenly mixed.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the softened butter, eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. This mixture should feel rich and creamy, embodying the tremendous flavor possibilities yet to come.
  4. Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until well combined. Make sure there are no dry flour pockets—every morsel should be unified.
  5. Divide the batter evenly into the cupcake liners, filling each about ⅔ full. Feel confident in your measuring; this will give your cupcakes the perfect rise.
  6. Bake for about 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. The aroma wafting through your kitchen at this stage will be nothing short of tremendous!
  7. Allow the cupcakes to cool completely on a wire rack. Patience is key here; letting them cool ensures a perfect texture.
  8. Once cool, use a knife or apple corer to remove a small portion from the center of each cupcake. This step creates space for the rich caramel filling.
  9. Fill each hollow with caramel sauce, allowing the thick, sweet liquid to trickle into the moist cake.
  10. Drizzle additional caramel sauce on top of each cupcake before serving to give them a decadent finish.
