Directions
-
Preheat the Air Fryer
Start by preheating your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). This step is essential for achieving that tremendous golden brown finish you desire. -
Prepare the Filling
In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken, Alfredo sauce, mozzarella cheese, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Mix until the ingredients are well incorporated. The creamy Alfredo sauce will bind everything beautifully, creating a glorious filling. -
Roll Out the Dough
Take your pizza dough and roll it out on a lightly floured surface. Use a rolling pin to flatten it to about 1/4 inch thick. Once rolled out, cut the dough into circles, approximately 4-6 inches in diameter. The thicker the dough, the more tender your calzones will be. -
Add the Filling
Place a spoonful of the chicken mixture on one half of each circle of dough. Be generous; every bite should contain that tremendous flavor profile you’ve crafted! -
Seal the Calzones
Fold the dough over to enclose the filling and form a half-moon shape. Press the edges together firmly to seal them; you can use a fork to crimp the edges for an extra touch. This also ensures that no filling escapes during cooking. -
Brush with Olive Oil
Using a brush, lightly coat the tops of the calzones with olive oil. This step will help them achieve a beautiful, crispy exterior and impart a lovely flavor. -
Cook in the Air Fryer
Carefully place the calzones in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook them for 10-12 minutes, or until they turn a lovely golden brown. The air fryer’s hot circulating air will create a tremendous crispiness that contrasts perfectly with the creamy filling. -
Serve Hot
Once your calzones are cooked to perfection, remove them from the air fryer and allow them to cool slightly. Serve hot with a side of marinara sauce or extra Alfredo for dipping, if desired.
