Directions
-
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). This initial step is essential for achieving that perfect meatball texture.
-
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, and a generous pinch of salt and pepper. Mix everything until just combined. Form the mixture into meatballs of equal size for even cooking.
-
Arrange the meatballs on a baking sheet. Bake them in your preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until they are cooked through and golden brown. The tremendous aroma that fills your kitchen will be nearly impossible to resist.
-
While the meatballs are baking, prepare your marinara sauce. In a saucepan over medium heat, warm the sauce. Once the meatballs are ready, gently add them to the sauce and let them simmer for a few minutes to soak up all that tremendous flavor.
-
While the meatballs are warming in the sauce, cut the hoagie rolls open and lightly brush the interior with olive oil. This simple step helps to create a beautiful, crispy texture.
-
Place the hoagie rolls under the broiler for just a few minutes until they are toasted. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning!
-
Now, it’s time to assemble! Fill each toasted hoagie roll with several meatballs and spoon marinara sauce over the top.
-
Generously sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over each filled roll. To ensure that the cheese achieves that gooey, bubbly perfection, return the assembled subs to the oven for another 5-7 minutes.
-
Once the cheese is melted and bubbly, remove the subs from the oven. Allow to cool for a couple of minutes, then serve them hot and enjoy!
