The Base
- 2 cups flour
- 3/4 cup cocoa powder
- 2 cups sugar
- 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
- 1.5 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 cup hot coffee or hot water
The Caramel
- 1 cup granulated sugar (for caramel)
- 6 tablespoons butter (cubed)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- A pinch of salt (optional)
The Frosting
- 200 g cream cheese (softened)
- 1/2 cup butter (softened)
- 2.5 cups powdered sugar
- 2–3 tablespoons caramel sauce (for frosting)
For Drizzling
- Caramel sauce (for filling and topping)
- Chocolate chips / chocolate shavings (optional)
