Caramel Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

The Base

  • 2 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 cup hot coffee or hot water

The Caramel

  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for caramel)
  • 6 tablespoons butter (cubed)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • A pinch of salt (optional)

The Frosting

  • 200 g cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/2 cup butter (softened)
  • 2.5 cups powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tablespoons caramel sauce (for frosting)

For Drizzling

  • Caramel sauce (for filling and topping)
  • Chocolate chips / chocolate shavings (optional)
