Directions
-
Start by preparing the brownie mix according to the package instructions. Once baked, allow the brownies to cool completely. This step is crucial, as warm brownies can create a tremendous mess when layered.
-
While the brownies cool, take a mixing bowl and beat together the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract using an electric mixer. Blend until the mixture is smooth and free of lumps.
-
In another bowl, pour in the heavy cream. Whip it until stiff peaks form, achieving a light and airy texture. This step adds a tremendous fluffiness to the filling.
-
Now, gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture. Make sure to do this slowly, as you want to maintain the lightness of the cream.
-
Grab your trifle dish or any clear glass serving bowl. Layer the brownie pieces at the bottom, followed by a layer of the cream cheese mixture. Repeat the layers until the dish is filled, ensuring the last layer is the cream cheese mixture.
-
If desired, drizzle caramel sauce generously over the top of the final layer. This not only adds flavor but also presents a tremendous visual appeal.
-
Chill the assembled trifle in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving. This allows the flavors to meld and the dessert to firm up slightly for easier serving.
