Butterscotch Sauce

Directions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar, brown sugar, and unsalted butter. Stir the mixture continuously until it becomes smooth and melds together. This step is crucial as you want the sugars to dissolve and the butter to melt, creating a tremendous foundation for your sauce.

  2. Gradually add the heavy whipping cream to the saucepan. Be cautious, as the mixture may bubble up. Stir in the light corn syrup and salt, mixing well to incorporate all the ingredients. Allow the sauce to cook for a few minutes while stirring frequently.

  3. After about 5 to 7 minutes, you will notice the mixture thickening. When it begins to boil, this is the signal to lower the heat. Continue stirring so that the sauce doesn’t stick to the pan or burn, ensuring its tremendous flavor remains intact.

  4. Once the sauce has reached your desired thickness, remove it from heat. Stir in the vanilla extract, adding depth to the flavor. Your Butterscotch Sauce is now ready to cool.

  5. Allow it to sit for a few minutes before serving. This waiting period will help the sauce thicken slightly. Drizzle generously over your favorite desserts and enjoy the homemade goodness.
