Butter Pecan Praline Poke Cake

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. This mixture is the foundation of your cake, so ensure it is mixed thoroughly.

  3. Add softened butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla to the dry ingredients. Mix until combined. The batter should be smooth and slightly thick, which will give the cake its tremendous structure.

  4. Fold in the chopped pecans gently into the batter. This step adds a delightful crunch and a rich nutty flavor.

  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Keep an eye on the oven because every minute counts for a perfect bake!

  6. Once the cake is baked to perfection, let it cool for about 10 minutes. Poke holes all over the top of the cake with a fork. These holes are essential as they allow the caramel to seep in, amplifying the flavors in a tremendous way.

  7. Pour the caramel sauce over the cake, making sure it seeps into all the holes. This element is what makes the cake so moist and irresistible.

  8. Allow the cake to cool completely, allowing the flavors to meld together perfectly.

  9. Serve slices with a dollop of whipped cream and additional pecans if desired for that perfect finishing touch.
