Butter Cake

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a cake pan to ensure the cake releases easily after baking.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. This step is crucial for incorporating air, which gives the cake its tremendous rise.

  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. This helps to fully integrate each egg into the batter, ensuring a smooth texture.

  4. Gradually add the flour mixture, which includes the salt and baking powder, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can lead to a denser cake rather than the tender crumb you desire.

  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula. This will help the cake rise evenly.

  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. You want your cake to have that beautiful golden color—a true sign of a tremendous bake.

  7. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. This step is important to prevent the cake from becoming soggy.
